Hong Kong is a city with a buzz, hard-working, and efficient, but with moments of grace that offer glimpses of its complex culture as one of the world’s great financial centres. This is a volume on Hong Kong, by Hong Kongers, featuring original photography of its quintessential landmarks, streets and inhabitants, and anecdotes from longstanding residents. It reflects how the city is many things to many people; a city of contrasts and diversity that in recent years, is fast transforming into a pre-eminent cultural destination. Hong Kong: Heritage, Art & Dreams celebrates everything from traditional knife sharpeners and tailors in the side streets to the traditional foods that make the city a culinary point of reference, from the latest local designers, architects and artists to those recognised throughout the world.

Presented in partnership with the Rosewood Hotel group on the occasion of the launch of its new waterfront property, The Rosewood Hong Kong, Hong Kong: Heritage, Art & Dreams invites readers to share a private, personal Hong Kong, and to lose themselves in its winding alleyways and colourful history.

For two decades, Australian-born photographer, author, and director Robyn Lea has worked internationally. Her photographs have been published in Vogue, The New York Times, Marie Claire Italia, Architectural Digest, T Magazine, and Vogue Living, and displayed in photographic exhibitions and solo shows all over the world. Following the success of her best–selling book Dinner with Jackson Pollock: Recipes, Art & Nature (Assouline, 2015), Lea wrote and photographed Dinner with Georgia O’Keeffe: Recipes, Art & Landscape (Assouline, 2017). She also photographed Venetian Chic (Assouline, 2017) and has been commissioned to do the forthcoming coffee table book on the Hôtel Ritz in Paris. Lea’s last assignments were Jane Webster’s books French Ties: Love, Life and Recipes and French House Chic. She continues to write and take photographs and is working on a solo exhibition to be held in Italy.
